Noksel Steel Pipe Co. Inc.

Noksel Spirally Welded Steel Pipe Industries Company Incorporated was established in 1987 by Yuksel Construction Company Inc. of Turkey and Oy Nokia AB and Finnfund Limited of Finland.

The factory which started production in late 1988 is equipped with the most modern spirally welded steel pipe manufacturing, coating, and lining machinery serving gas, petroleum, and water transmission pipe line projects and construction industry by supplying pipes manufactured according. to API, DIN, ASTM, AWWA, BS, UNI, and Turkish Standards.

The factory is located conveniently on 90,000 m2 are in Iskenderun Industrial Zone which is complete with its loading and unloading dock and other industrial facilities.  The annual production is 50,000 tons and the product range is from 200mm to 2600mm outside diameter.  The thickness of the material can be up to 20mm.  Depending on the customer requirements, the outside of the steel pipes can be coated by polyethylene, epoxy, bitumen, or coal-tar enamel and inside of the steel pipes can be lined by epoxy, bitumen, coal-tar enamel or cement mortar in compliance with the universal standards at the modern coating yard.

Noksel manufactures spirally welded steel pipes in compliance with the following standards according to the utilization purposes and the customer specifications.

  • Gas Pipelines: API 5L, DIN 2470
  • Petroleum Pipelines: API 5L
  • Water Pipelines: AWWA C-200, BS 534, DIN 2460, TS 1997, UNI 6363
  • General Purpose Pipes: ASTM A-53, BS 3601, DIN 1626, TS 416
  • Piling Pipes: ASTM A-252
  • Pipe Specials and Fittings: AWWA C-208, BS 534

Quality Control
Quality control systems start all the way from the careful selection of steel, welding wire, welding flux and other materials and ends at the final inspection of the pipe itself.  Noksel, knowing the importance of quality control, utilizes:

  • Automatic Ultrasonic Testing Units
  • Manual Ultrasonic Testing Units
  • X-Ray Film equipment
  • Gamma-Ray Film equipment
  • Hydrostatic Testing Machine
  • Complete Laboratory equipment for destructive and non destructive, physical and chemical testing of raw materials and pipes
  • Quality control and measurement instruments

PE Coating
PE Coating is generally used at all of the petroleum and gas pipelines and being increasingly used for water pipelines as well.  PD coating provides an excellent protection due to it properties such as resistance to aging and impact.  By considering the latest edition of the most widely used PE coating standard, DIN 30670, printed in 1991 as a revision, Noksel has established this plant enabling 3 layers coating system in accordance with the latest technology.  The adherence property of 3 layers PE coating system is very high compared with the other PE coating types.

In 3 layers, PE Coating System:
  • 1st Layer: The electrostatically applied special powder paint
  • 2nd Layer: Special adhesive applied by extrusion method
  • 3rd Layer: Polyethylene applied by extrusion method

Low, medium or high density Polyethylene may be used according to the customer specifications and technical requirements.

Cement Mortar Lining
Cement mortar lining being only applied to the internal surfaces of the pipes, is used specially for water pipelines.  The compaction of the cement mortar, the equal dispersion of which is provided by the spraying method, is obtained by the high centrifugal applied to the pipes.  The most widely used standards for cement mortar coating are AWWA C-205 and BS 534.

Bitumen and Coal-Tar Enamel
Prior to the application of bitumen and coal-tar enamel, primer is applied to obtain good adhesion.  And then, heated coating material is applied by centrifugal method to the internal surface and by wrapping method to the external surface of the pipes.  The pipes which are wrapped with glass fiber embedded in whether bitumen or coal-tar are then lime washed.  The most widely used standards are DIN 30673 and TS 4536 for bitumen coating, and AWWA C-203 for coal-tar enamel coating.

Transportation
Steel pipes after being manufactured completely are loaded with special care to the trucks at the stock yard and delivered.  Special apparatus are used for the protection of the pipes and coatings during the loading operation.  Noksel's factory is mainly available for the land, sea, and railway transportation due to its proper location.  Any one of these means may be selected by considering the pipe dimensions, amounts, and the places the pipes are to be transported.

Noksel Company is proud to contribute the Turkish Industry by supplying high quality spirally welded steel pipes, serving the pipeline and constructional projects in and outside of Turkey.
